I transform spaces and objects by designing light, colour and focus while also bringing efficiency and simplicity. Here are some examples of my transformations, before and after, from living rooms to gardens.

Adding light and peace to a living room
Fresh white walls, a light whimsical rug, and colourful pillows brought the room to life! Adding walnut wood mantles and lighting in the recess turned the fireplace into a focal point.
The photo below shows the room before my transformation. The living room/dining room wall were painted a dark colour. The rug was dark, and the fireplace lacked interest.

Simplify and beautify: Familiar furniture re-conceived
I created a beautiful storage/display unit by fitting 3 of the pieces together, expertly applying glossy coats of white paint, adding modern handles, and topping it all off with a bespoke walnut mantle.

Before (below): The entertainment/storage wall had been a jumble of pine pieces. I saw an opportunity not only to simplify, but also to use the small bookshelf (1) between cabinets (2 and 3) as the centre of a dramatic display.

A small kitchen wakes up to elegance and efficiency
The framed artisan vegetable poster creates a unique backsplash. I removed the cupboard doors, painting the back a vibrant colour, and arranged the shelves with only white ceramic pieces. A butcher block on wheels provided extra work surface and storage.

Before (below): The lack of a backsplash, and limited working surface made this dated kitchen drab and nonfunctional

In a small kitchen, details matter
I built shelves beside the fridge which added storage and made it look flush. The subway tiles are actually drawn on the walls over glossy white paint. The room now has interest without the expense and mess of tiling.

Before (below): Pipes behind the fridge prevented it from sitting flush

An old shed transformed into a whimsical garden folly
After the magic: a patio built, siding fixed, shutters added, everything painted afresh, and a wonderland tea scene added. The foundling table was painted for surprise, the old chair turned into a planter, and ceramics added to make a dramatic scene.

At night, after a bit more magic: the table evolved to become part of the greenery, and a string of lights over the folly and a twisted wood arch invite you into fairyland.

Before (below): The old garden shed, visible from the street, had stood with eyes downcast in embarrassment.

A vintage dolls’ pram restored
After sewing a new lining and bonnet, fixing physical damage, and a careful paint job, the carefully restored pram sparkled just as grandma remembers it when she first saw it as a child.

Before (below): The old doll’s pram from the 1950’s, neglected for decades.
